Introduction

This Privacy Policy explains how Spending Tracker (“we”, “our”, or “the App”) collects, uses, stores, and protects information when you use our Android application. We are committed to protecting your privacy and being transparent about our data practices.

1. Information We Collect

Information You Provide

All data in Spending Tracker is entered manually by you. This includes:

  • Transaction details: titles, amounts, categories, and dates
  • Monthly budget amounts you set
  • Impulse purchase flags you mark yourself
  • Challenge preferences (accepted / completed status)

Information We Do NOT Collect

  • Your name, email address, phone number, or any account credentials
  • Bank account or financial institution data
  • Device identifiers, IP addresses, or location data
  • Usage analytics or behavioural telemetry

2. How We Use Your Information

All data is used solely to provide the App’s features to you, on your device:

  • Displaying your transaction history and spending summaries
  • Analysing spending patterns to determine your Spending Personality (Impulse Buyer, Comfort Spender, Social Splurger, Mindful Spender, or The Planner)
  • Generating personalised nudges and behavioural challenges based on your patterns
  • Tracking your monthly budget progress against your set limit
  • Showing category-level breakdowns across Food & Dining, Shopping, Entertainment, Transport, Health, and Other

All analysis is performed locally on your device. No data is ever transmitted to any server.

3. Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored entirely on your Android device using standard Android application storage:

  • Your data never leaves your device — there are no remote servers or cloud backups
  • Data is protected by Android’s built-in app sandboxing; other apps cannot access your Spending Tracker data
  • Uninstalling the App permanently deletes all your stored data
  • We have no ability to recover your data once it is deleted

4. Third-Party Sharing

We do not sell, rent, trade, or share your data with any third parties. The App does not integrate with:

  • Advertising networks or ad brokers
  • Analytics platforms (e.g. Firebase, Mixpanel, Amplitude)
  • Social media platforms or login providers
  • Payment processors or financial service providers
  • Cloud storage providers

5. Android Permissions

Spending Tracker does not request any special Android permissions. The App does not access:

  • Camera, microphone, or contacts
  • Location services (GPS or network-based)
  • SMS, phone calls, or notifications
  • External storage or file system
  • Internet connectivity

6. Your Rights and Data Control

Because all data is stored locally on your device, you have full control at all times:

  • Access: View all your data directly within the App
  • Delete individual records: Use the delete button on any transaction in the Transactions screen
  • Delete all data: Uninstall the App to permanently remove everything
  • Correction: Delete and re-enter any transaction to correct your records

Since we hold no data on our servers, there is nothing for us to delete on your behalf. Your data sovereignty is absolute.

7. Children’s Privacy

Spending Tracker is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has used the App, you may remove all data by uninstalling the App from the device.

8. How Spending Personality Detection Works

The App includes a Spending Personality feature that categorises your spending style. This analysis:

  • Is performed entirely on-device using only the transactions you have entered
  • Uses simple ratio-based heuristics (e.g. proportion of impulse purchases, category frequency)
  • Is for informational and motivational purposes only — it does not constitute financial advice
  • Is not shared with any third party or used for profiling outside the App

9. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected in an updated version of the App on the Google Play Store, with an updated effective date at the top of this document. Continued use of the App after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the revised Policy.
